About Catherine Brooker
I have always loved to draw and paint. I am lucky enough to now have a small studio on the farm that I share with my husband, leading to more opportunities to create and be inspired.
I primarily paint with acrylics and draw with pencil on paper but I also like to transfer my images to fabric and paper using various printing techniques. My works are inspired by the native flora on my property and its natural forest surroundings. I love to paint and draw the intricate detail and vibrant colours of Western Australian plants and trees, whether it’s a large representation of a sculptural native flower, such as the kunzea or the spectacular colours of the peeling bark of a karri tree. My logo is based on the blossom of the red flowering gum.
In 2020 I have been experimenting with digital art tools and moving into landscapes and a wider range of subject matter.
I am establishing an etsy store, initially with high quality prints of my works but in time I hope to include a range of original drawings and paintings, handmade printed items and perhaps even digital downloads in the future.
